Updates on the progress of the search will occur at regular intervals, approximately once per month.

 

UPDATE 6/21/20:  The Rev. Nancee Ann Cekuta, rector of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, North Augusta, SC, is our new rector.  More information is available on our website’s home page.

UPDATE 6/19/20:  Following a lengthy and rigorous process, the Search Committee and Vestry have completed their work to call a new Rector to join us in ministry. This new person has accepted our call, and the Senior Warden and Chairman of the Search Committee will announce our new Rector at both services this Sunday, June 21.  Be sure to come in person to the 8:00 a.m. service or livestream the service from your home at 9:30 a.m. At 11:00 a.m., a video from our new rector will be posted on our website and Facebook page.

 

UPDATE 5/30/20:  Despite the pandemic, the search committee has continued to work very diligently and is making great progress.  As a reminder, the committee’s work is just one step of the process.  The search committee brings a candidate’s name to the vestry, which then begins its part of the discernment conversation. We ask for your continued prayers.

 

UPDATE 5/6/20: The second-round interview process has been completed, and Bishop Skirving is conducting his candidate-screening process.  Given the travel restrictions and social distancing requirements brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic, the committee is forming new and creative ways to conduct final activities, which traditionally have involved on-site visitations to both a candidate’s church and to Holy Trinity.  We hope and expect these final activities will be completed in approximately 4 – 5 weeks.

 

UPDATE 4/16/20:  The committee has completed first-round interviews and is in the process of scheduling the second round.   We anticipate our deliberations following the second round will be completed within the next 2 – 3 weeks.

 

UPDATE 3/24/20:  The committee met online with The Rev. Singer on March 23 and received candidate profiles. At the meeting, we welcomed Amy Beene as a new member of the committee.  Amy is replacing Susie Harris, who tendered her resignation in order to assume her new role as our parish administrator.  We will miss Susie’s valuable contribution to the committee and are grateful for Amy’s willingness to join us.

We will now begin the process of contacting candidates to schedule first-round interviews.  We anticipate that first and second-round interviews may take several weeks to complete.  We also anticipate the COVID 19 pandemic, which is creating travel restrictions, may impact our ability to meet candidates face-to-face.  If restrictions remain in effect for a long period of time, we will consult with the bishop’s office and the candidates to determine appropriate future steps.

 

UPDATE 2/28/20:  Our listing has been published on websites for the national church and the diocese, so we are in a waiting period while applicants submit applications to the diocese. The application deadline is March 22.  Shortly after that, the Rev. Michael Singer will meet with the committee to review the applications, so that the interview process may begin.  In the meantime, committee members are reviewing a packet of information from the diocese to help them prepare for interviews.

 

UPDATE 1/25/20:  The vestry approved the profile at its annual retreat.  The profile has been submitted to the diocese for review and posting.  The profile has also been posted on our church’s website, and anyone can find it under the “Rector Search” tab at the top of our home page.

Also, members of the search committee will present the profile to the congregation at Adult Forum Sunday, Jan. 26.

 

UPDATE 1/6/20: Our first two parish profile sessions were well attended and provided lots of positive comments about our parish and hopes for our future. Our third and final session will be held Tuesday, Jan. 7 in the parish hall at 6 p.m.  Babysitting and refreshments will be provided.

The questions posed at the profile sessions have been posted on the website and any one who was not able to attend one of the sessions is invited to respond to the questions and drop their answers by the administration building, where they will be collected by the committee.

The committee will hold its second meeting Thursday, Jan. 9 to complete writing the profile so that it can be submitted to the vestry for approval.  We are asking the vestry to review and approve the profile at their vestry retreat during the weekend of Jan 17.  After that, the profile will be posted on our website and submitted to the diocese for posting on their open position job site.

 

UPDATE 12/5/19:  The Search Committee has been formed, and will be introduced to the congregation this coming Sunday.  Our first meeting was held December 4 with the Rev. Michael Singer, Transition Ministry Officer for the diocese, attending.  Rev. Singer reviewed the process with the committee.

One of the first steps in the search process is to develop a parish profile, which is a document that will articulate our strengths, challenges, and opportunities to prospective candidates. The profile also gives us a chance to describe the kind of rector we are looking for.

To help prepare the profile, three Profile Development meetings will be held, and all members of the congregation are encouraged to come share their thoughts. The meetings will be held in the parish hall on:

  • Wednesday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m.;
  • Sunday, December 15 following the joint service/annual meeting (The Joint Service begins at 9:30 a.m.);
  • Tuesday, January 7 at 6:00 p.m.

Babysitting is available at the December 15 and January 7 meetings.  The meetings should last about one hour, and light refreshments will be served.
