Parish Structure
Like every Episcopal Church,
Holy Trinity belongs to a Diocese and our chief pastor is
the Bishop of the Diocese. We are a member of The Diocese
of East Carolina; our Bishop is the Right Reverend Clifton
Daniel, 3rd. In the Bishop’s absence, our Rector serves
us. The Reverend Ray Brown, who joined us with in wife Judy,
in February 2001, is our ninth rector. His assistant is
the Reverend Jill Beimdiek.
The rector and the Vestry
run the everyday affairs of the parish. The Vestry, of which
the rector is a member and the president at meetings, runs
the financial affairs of the parish and advises the rector
on a broad range of issues encompassing virtually the total
life of the parish.
Holy Trinity has more than
50 other ministries, organizations, and groups. These
range from a Pastoral Care Guild to an Intercessory Prayer
Group. They include our food pantry, which serves
more than 100 households each monrh. Other organizations
are as varied as Supper Club, an everchanging group of indiviiduals
and couples who meet for dinner once each month, to the
Under the Hill Gang, younger parishioners who share good
times on a regular basis. Holy Trinity offers parenting
classes for new fathers and mothers from time to time.
We have made a variety of mission trips within the past
decade to Honduras, Haiti, Mexico, Appalachia, and Puerto
Rico. A medical mission to the Philippines is planned
for February 2007. The Preschool Board oversees the policies
of our preschool NAEYC accredited preschool.. If you
are interested in almost anything from the deeply spiritual
to the laugh out loud funny, you will probably find some
group that shares that interest here.
