Giving and Pledging Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MAKE A YEARLY GIVING PROMISE?

A:  Faithful stewardship is a commitment to manage one’s time, effort, and money as an expression of faith and a personal response of gratitude for God’s generosity. A yearly giving promise represents a monetary commitment to help Holy Trinity fund ministry and church operations based on the faith that guides your stewardship of all your resources. A yearly giving promise is a statement of intent, not a legal obligation. It can be changed at any time.

Q: HOW DO PEOPLE DECIDE ON HOW MUCH TO PROMISE?

A:  A Giving Promise is a personal or family decision, and many factors can determine how much to promise. At Holy Trinity, we encourage parishioners to consider their giving promise as a percentage of their income rather than as a fixed amount for all. An advantage to committing a percentage of income is that this approach can adapt as our incomes naturally change over time. We have also encouraged Holy Trinity members to consider increasing their percentage with tithing (10%) as an ultimate goal; however, no amount is too small to help the church function.

Q:  HOW DOES HOLY TRINITY USE THE PROMISED FUNDS?

A:  Yearly promised giving provides the funds necessary to keep Holy Trinity operational. Your promised monies pay for the clergy and staff who lead our worship, provide inspiration and leadership for teaching our children, youth, and adults, and calm our troubled souls through beautiful music. Funds pay for building maintenance and provide heat, A/C, and lights. Your monies allow Holy Trinity to open its doors daily to different local groups, who rely on us for meeting space to better our community. All promises are greatly appreciated, and funds are carefully spent with oversight from the Finance Committee and the Vestry.

Q: DO I RECEIVE A STATEMENT?

A:  Yes, quarterly statements are generated, emailed, and distributed in hard copy, both for your tax records and to confirm the accuracy of our records.

Q:  HOW DO I SUBMIT MY YEARLY GIVING PROMISE?

A:  Paper copies of the giving promise cards are available all year. They are included in the Welcome Bags distributed on your first Sunday or may be found at the Electronic Giving Station as you enter the church from the gravel parking lot. Completed cards may be placed in the offering plate, mailed to the office at 1601 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28305, or handed to the Rector, The Rev. Nan Cekuta. You are also invited to complete a pledge card online by clicking on the graphic to the left, “Together We Can Make a Difference!”

Q: HOW DO I PAY MY YEARLY GIVING PROMISE?

A:  There are many ways to pay a giving promise. The most common is a check or cash on a Sunday morning, electronic transfer online, Online Bill Pay through your financial institution, or credit/debit card through our online portal on the Give Page of this website or through the kiosk on Sunday morning. Please call the office at (910) 484-2134 with questions or clarification on these options.
